Meet Sarah Cave, Surrey Celebrant and Full-Time Champion of Love

I love love. Always have. Ask anyone who has ever sat next to me at a wedding.

How a Friday Night on the Sofa Changed Everything

I've been a professional nanny for years and I absolutely adore working with families. But alongside that love for children, I always held a pull towards something creative, a way to use my love for writing and storytelling to help people mark life's biggest moments.

Then one Friday evening I was sitting watching Married at First Sight Australia. One of the participants was a celebrant, and he started talking about his job and how much joy he got from marrying people. I remember the exact feeling. What a fabulous job. What a joyful, creative thing to get to do every single day.

I could not stop thinking about it for weeks. So I trained with the Academy of Modern Celebrancy, and here I am, doing the most amazing job in the world.

What All Those Years With Children Gave Me

Being a nanny turned out to be the best possible training for this.

I am completely calm when a two year old decides mid-ceremony that now is the moment to remove their shoes. I know how long little ones can realistically sit still, so I write family ceremonies that fit inside that window. And I know how to make a nervous older sibling feel like the most important person in the room.

If your ceremony involves children in any way, whether they are yours, your nieces, your flower girls or the reason for the whole occasion, you are in very safe hands.

What Guides Me

At the heart of everything I do, there is love. I value respect. I am deeply supportive, and I want to bring joy and happiness to everyone I meet.

Connection matters enormously to me. The threads between friends, families and loved ones are the whole reason we gather in the first place, and nurturing them is a privilege. As a celebrant I am a storyteller, and I get to share your story with the people you love most, told through your eyes rather than mine.

Helping you create memories that last a lifetime is what inspires me. That is not a line for a website. It is genuinely why I do this.

What It's Like to Work With Me

Easy. That is the honest answer.

We'll meet somewhere comfortable, jump on a video call or send each other far too many WhatsApp messages. Whatever suits your life. You will fill in a questionnaire that is actually quite fun to do, I will write your script from scratch, and we will edit it together until every word feels right.

On the day I arrive an hour early, sort out the details with your venue and suppliers, and deliver a ceremony that leaves everyone smiling, crying happy tears and ready to celebrate. Afterwards you get a beautifully presented copy of your script to keep forever.

And then I will still be here, cheering you on, for whatever you want to celebrate next.
