Your ceremony shouldn't just be the part before the reception, it should be the best part of the whole day.
A celebrant-led ceremony gives you complete freedom to celebrate your way. You choose the location, the music, the story, and the feel. I'll write a script that is completely about you, deliver it with so much love, and leave your guests smiling, laughing, and feeling every single moment.
So What Can You Really Do?
Anything. That is not me being vague, it is genuinely the answer.
Get married in a botanical garden, a barn, your family's back garden or the hotel where you got engaged. Walk down the aisle. Dance down the aisle. Have your dog carry the rings. Swap the classical reading for song lyrics that mean something to you. Hang the disco balls.
Keep as much tradition as you want and leave behind whatever doesn't suit you. That's what most of my couples love. You get all the heart, warmth and meaning of a traditional ceremony, beautifully blended with moments that feel entirely your own.
The legal bit, made simple
In England and Wales, a celebrant ceremony is not a legal marriage. Your Celebrant ceremony is a heartfelt celebration and the real moment your family and friends will remember while the legal paperwork happens separately.
It is genuinely straightforward. You give notice at your local register office, then book the short statutory ceremony, which is the simplest and cheapest option they offer. You need two witnesses and about ten minutes. Lots of couples do this on a quiet weekday with two friends and treat it as a lovely little prelude to the main event.
Then we do your ceremony that means everything to you, on your special day, in front of all your favourite people.
Choose Symbolic Elements
Symbolic elements give your guests something to watch and your ceremony something to build towards. These are the ones I love:
Handfasting
The original tying of the knot. Your hands bound together with ribbons or cords, often chosen by the people who matter most to you.
Wine or cocktail blending
Two drinks poured into one glass and shared. Yes, you can absolutely make it a cocktail. Yes, people have done shots.
The surprise ring bearer
My favourite. The rings are hidden under a guest's chair, chosen by you or by me, and nobody knows who is holding them until the moment arrives. It's a wonderful, unexpected moment that gets everyone smiling and involved.
Sand ceremonies and candle lighting
Beautiful for blending families, honouring someone who is not there, or bringing children into the promises you are making.
If there is something meaningful to you that is not on this list, tell me. I love a challenge and I will find a way to make it happen.
How We'll
Do This
-
The first chat
A free, no-obligation phone or video call about your plans, to see if we are a good match. No pressure, no pitch.
-
Booking
If you are happy to go ahead, I will send you a booking form and a 50% deposit to lock your date in my diary.
-
Getting to know you
We meet in person (depending on location) or over video to chat and share ideas, and really get to know each other. Afterwards, I send you a couple's questionnaire to capture more details and memories.
-
Writing and revisions
I craft your bespoke script, help with vows, readings and personal touches you might like to include, we refine it together until you are 100% happy.
-
The day itself
I arrive an hour early, coordinate with your suppliers, take care of the details and deliver your ceremony.
-
Your keepsake
A beautiful copy of your script arrives after the day. And I will always be around to help you celebrate whatever comes next.
Vow Renewals
Vow renewals get exactly the same care and the same package. 5,10 or 25 years in, or just many adventures later, choosing each other again is one of the loveliest things I get to be part of.
If you eloped, had a tiny lockdown wedding, or simply never got the day you wanted, this is your chance to have it properly.
Nice Things People Have Said
Wedding Questions,
Answered
-
Doesn't a celebrant cost more than a registrar?
There is an extra cost, yes, because you are paying for the register office appointment as well. What you get with a celebrant is a ceremony written entirely for you, in the place you want, at the length you want, without limits and someone who has spent months getting to know you. Most couples decide that is where their ceremony budget should go.
-
Can we really get married anywhere?
Yes. No licence needed, because the legal part happens separately. Gardens, beaches, barns, woodland, your living room. Anywhere that will have us.
-
How far in advance should we book?
As soon as you have your date and venue locked in! Peak wedding season weekends fill up quickly, so I always recommend getting in touch as early as possible to secure your date in my diary.
-
Can we include religious or cultural elements?
Absolutely. I love including culture in ceremonies and I am inclusive in everything I do. Prayers, blessings, traditions from either or both of your families, all welcome.
